Mohawk Time!

How many of you moms can claim that you gave your son a mohawk for only 21 hours just for crazy hair day at school? Well, now I can say that I have.

Aubrey is 9 today!

It is hard to believe that I gave birth to a little girl 9 years ago today.
Aubrey joined our family and has been a blessing to us all.
She has counted down the days since October 1st and has made sure that we knew what she wanted for her birthday.
Last year she wanted to go to Texas Roadhouse for her birthday to "sit on the saddle". When we got there she found out that the saddle was broken from a fat man sitting on it. So she was determined to go sit on the saddle this year.
She celebrated her special day by opening presents, taking treats to school for her class and then we celebrated at Texas Roadhouse and had an ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins. It was a wonderful day. Happy Birthday Sweetie!

Oh my Heck!!!!

Can it be? My Damian is 12 today! Where has all the time gone? I still recall his contagious little laugh, his make believe car that he drove around the house to do any task, him ripping his sheets off his crib everytime (until his mommy became smarter than him and sewed a crib mattress pillow case- Now try that one smarty pants), and him lining up his Hot Wheel cars and crashing them for hours each day. We celebrated today by having the most fantastic Nerf war with some friends of his, eating Eegee's, and enjoying the day. Now we will see him passing the sacrament after he receives the Aaronic priesthood. We love you Damian and are so happy to have you in our family.
(Check back for some pictures soon after I load them.)

Thou shall not covet

Aubrey has been anxiously waiting for today to arrive. Last week she asked me for a box and some wrapping paper. She has been protecting this box (laying in bed with it too). She also had each family member write a little note to me. She happily presented it all to me this morning for my birthday. Remember "Thou shall not covet".
I could wear a new necklace, bracelet, or ring at least for a month without repeating any of them. Thank you Aubrey, you are very thoughtful.

What was she thinking?

I looked at Aubrey this morning at breakfast and noticed something different......chunks missing out of 1 of her eyebrows. I asked her what happened. She looked down sadly and said, "I cut them at school because they were getting too long."
Does the other eyebrow look too long to you?
She donated her hair and now she is donating her eyebrows to the classroom floor.

Annie Musical

Emmalee was in the "Annie" Musical at school. She played Kate the orphan, the Dog catcher and a NYC person downtown. They did a fantastic job, better than most High Schools plays I have seen. I helped sew many, many costumes. I made the Annie dress, 4 orphan dresses and bloomers, 4 servant aprons, skirts and caps, and Ms. Hannigan's hat all in about 2 weeks.
Whew!!!!
Here are a few pictures.

New addition

Well, after 5 long, painful, grueling months, Steven passed his kidney stone at 1:37 AM this morning. We are still deciding on a name for his "Baby" #5. It was much larger than the Dr. anticipated. The Dr. told us it was 5 mm x 7 mm, but it actually is 1/4 (10 mm) of an inch long and that is after some of it was lithotripsied back in February. The Dr. had been telling him for months that it is passable, but Steven decided he didn't want to try and pass it on his own any longer and just wanted it OUT!!! Steven was scheduled for surgery on Monday. I guess it finally decided to come on its own. We are so grateful and Steven is so proud.

Aubrey throw down your hair....Wait, you can't anymore

Aubrey decided about 8 months ago that she wanted to donate her hair for children who have lost their own hair. So we have been patiently letting it grow and combing out all those tangles. Well, on April 2nd it became that day she was waiting for so eagerly. I cut off 9" of her hair. This is the shortest Aubrey's hair has been since she turned 3. She loves it short and we love that she is so generous to be of service to others.

You don't wake up to this very often in the desert

It actually snowed last night. They weather channel said it would but I was doubtful. Just wish it wasn't on Sunday and there would have been more to play in.

No more training wheels

Aubrey has been wanting to learn to ride her bike without training wheels. Today, she told me that she was going to say a prayer to be brave and just do it. Well, about 10 minutes later she was riding her bike on her own and said, "It's been answered!" We left the training wheels on, just put them up. I guess now we can take them off for good. Way to go Aubrey!

Here she is in action!
